ABSORBING (Installation)
Made by: Eva Lendorph
Year: 2015
Exhibited in Shanghai, China.
Project at Danish National School of Performing Arts
ABSORBING was created and exhibited first in Shanghai, China, then at DDSKS.
It is a reflection made from the experiences and inputs of Eva's four month stay, in Shanghai.
The works reflects an attempt to integrate, with a Scandinavian background, in to the Chinese culture.
It shows the struggles of letting go of behavioral norms and opening up to the differences, to let them in and look at oneself in a new perspective. How to Observe and Absorb at the same time.
The pieces are made from rice paper, dyed with Chinese black ink, so that there was a clean contrast in the materials.
To underline not only the refined sense of both Scandinavian and Chinese culture, Eva's style of the grotesque, is an abstract collision with the materials and shows a constant battle in the depths and surfaces of the human being.
